Publisher's Synopsis
Emmy becomes the wild card as her own brain rapidly develops to a similar level to her mother's. However, being forced to take over at short notice, the teenager burns with anger at the itinerary she is expected to follow, especially when she learns her mother secretly initiated the most audacious and far-reaching planet-wide experiment just beforehand, code-named Operation Pause. For her own personal satisfaction, Emmy gives a mind-blowing concert, purely to outdo her mother's earlier ones, knowing when Operation Pause is revealed the entire planet will try to kill her and every other family member. Under intolerable and unrelenting pressure she decides to over-ride her advisors and accelerate her mother's secret programs, completing a planetary social change decades faster than Freak had envisaged. It scares everyone from world leaders to the general public as she uses Freak's futuristic technology to demonstrate that wars are no longer an option- whilst maintaining her mother's mantra that "No-one has to die" for the planet to attain utopia. But deaths do occur, including within the Quatermain family.
