Im Fierabras (ed. A. Kroeber und Servois, Paris, 1860) heisst Karls Reich einmal la tere -3 sonst France in nicht bestimmter Bedeutung. Nicht zu France gehort aber Lothringen nach Die Leute von France oder die Soldaten Karls heissen Franc nur in der Einleitung, S. 2, und im 2. Theil von Seite 60 ab, wechselnd hier mit Fran oois. Im 1. Theil wird dagegen sonst nur Franqois gebraucht genau wie in der Destruction de Rome (romania II), wo Franqois allein vorkommt. France scheint nach Destruction v. 250 Montpellier nicht einzuschliessen (vgl. V. Da. Gegen gehort v. 145, 194 Aisle. Chapelle dazu, sodass sich in der Destruction Verhaltnisse Frankreichs im 12. Jahr hundert nicht sowohl mit Erinnerungen an die Zeit der ersten Karolinger, als vielmehr mit Reminiscenzen des Dichters aus dem Rolandsliede, die auch im Fierabras hervortreten' kreuzen.'
