The pencilled ownership inscription of the recipient, Eileen Rice-Oxley, is beneath.The author's collection of rhymes about fish and fowl - extending to amphibians and, in one case, a 'portly merman' - had originally been printed for private circulation at the Hornsey School of Art.

FIRST TRADE EDITION, monochrome illustrations to each page, some faint spotting throughout, pp. [vi], 40, royal 8vo, original quarter red cloth, backstrip and upper board lettered in black, pale grey boards patterned with a design printed in red, a few very faint spots to upper board, top edge red, faint spotting to other edges and endpapers, dustjacket with a design by Freeman, gently sunned backstrip panel and a couple of tiny nicks, very good
