Excerpt from Forty-Fifth Annual Report of the Nebraska State Horticultural Society: Containing All the Proceedings of the Annual Meeting Held at the Lindell Hotel, Lincoln, January 20, 21 and 22, 1914
Article XI. - Salaries of Officers - The president, vice-presi dent, treasurer, and members of the board of directors shall receive such per diem per day for their services in attendance upon the meet ings of the society as the society or board of directors may from time to time determine. The board of directors shall pay the secretary an annual salary of if they deem best, in consideration of his keeping an open office and giving his whole time to the work, spend ing at least eight hours a day in his office. It shall be his duty to put out each year a creditable annual report, issue monthly bulletins to each member, prepare articles at least once a month for the lead ing papers, doing also his utmost to secure new members. This to be done with the advice and direction of the executive board.
