Publisher's Synopsis
This book is the first of three related volumes dealing with George Rogers Clark's Fort Jefferson. It provides a summary of more than 5000 original documents examining the 416-day history of the fort. This civilian and military enclave was located between St Louis (Pancore) and New Orleans near the mouth of the Ohio River on the very edge of the Kentucky frontier. Based primarily on the unpublished Clark papers, the work represents an account of an American outpost and its role during the American Revolution.
