Just when the Monterey pine was first introduced into New Zealand is not known, but existing planta tions are known to be between 40 and 45 years old. The growth rate is much the same as in Australia, the annual increment (inside bark) being 250 cubic feet per acre at 30 years and 385'cubic feet at,40.

The southeastern section of the Society of American Foresters was organized at a meeting in Jacksonville.
