There is a misconception that you need to have the "gift of healing" to pray for the sick and see them healed. Nothing could be farther from the truth! God has given authority to all of His disciples to heal the sick.
God expects all of His disciples to heal the sick. That is the first thing we have to understand. And because God expects this of His disciples, He has given each of His disciples authority to heal. It does not matter if you are Lutheran, Assembly of God, Baptist, Episcopalian, CMA, Church of Christ, Vineyard, COGIC, Pentecostal Holiness, Congregational, Covenant, charismatic, evangelical, mainline Pentecostal, inter-denominational or nondenominational. If you are Jesus' disciple, then God has given you the authority to heal the sick. It does not matter whether or not your church regularly practices praying for the sick as a part of the service. It does not matter whether or not you have ever personally done this before or not. If you are Jesus' disciple, He has already given you this authority. You don't have to do anything special to get it.. it is already yours!
