Publisher's Synopsis
It is the year 2050 and sixteen-year-old Joshua Parks joins the Army. After basic training his overseas year is spent in South Korea. The North does what it has been doing for fifty years, shooting missiles over Japan. This time the bomb hits mainland Japan, killing over a million people. The Americans and South Koreans battle their way north until one morning the ground shakes like an earthquake. The soldiers receive word that the United States has hit a Northern city with a nuclear weapon, also killing a million people. The fighting becomes more intense as the soldiers pushing up from the south gain ground on the north. The Air Force and Navy send a constant barrage of missiles toward the North. The north wants to send a nuclear missile to Seoul, South Korea, but the Chinese try to tell them that would give the United States reason to wipe the north out. By the time China talks the North Korean government into surrendering, the DMZ has moved considerably north. Joshua spends an additional six months in Korea helping rebuild the new DMZ, then spends the rest of his service time in the states. Joshua finds he has a couple of problems he needs to solve. While in the Army Joshua makes time to get married to Hope Carson, a girl he met before leaving for the service. Joshua gets a good job in the correctional system and Hope gets pregnant. Things are looking up, until tragedy strikes again. Joshua has met many a character in five years, but he has to learn to take the good with the bad.
