Ou the first of the year 1820, a number of pious persons were impressed with the necessity of sending the Gospel of salvation to the destitute parts of South' Carolina; and, believing that ample resources might be found, a meeting Was called on the 20th Jan. Of the same year. This meeting was respectably attended; and a committee appointed to draft a constitution, for the consideration of a subsequent meeting - to be held on the 27th. At this Meeting, the constitution, under which we now act, was adopted and officers elected to carry its provisions into effect.
