Publisher's Synopsis
Strife formed their bond, and life tested its limits. They met at the age of five one hot summer afternoon when Oaklee saw a moving van rumbling down Sycamore Lane. A lonely girl with an alcoholic war-veteran father and a disengaged mother, Oaklee Waters wanted nothing more than to find a best friend. Born of two physically abusive parents, Ford needed a friend as much, or more, than she did. They could not foresee the long-term consequences when they plotted to murder their biggest oppressor. The events that unfolded in the aftermath of such a crime, left them reeling down different paths of self-destruction which threatened to destroy the bond they forged as young victims of abuse and cruelty. Forced to face their demons after a reckless night of teenage drinking, both Ford and Oaklee must suffer the repercussions of their actions and make some difficult decisions to either succumb or prevail over their haunted pasts.
