A simple childhood is all Tormjere has ever known, helping his family raise dogs in a distant, untroubled corner of the Kingdom. His first journey into the outside world meets with disaster, and the boy finds himself thrust into a role for which he is ill-prepared: guiding a blind priest on a quest to fulfill his holy destiny.
What seems a straightforward, if daunting, task soon reveals a bigger mystery.
