Recruiting offices were Opened in Providence under Christopher Blanding and Henry T. Sisson, both of whom were-soon after com missioned as the two additional majors in the new organization. Recruits were rapidly sent forward to fill up the companies, and in March, 1862, the two new majors arrived with a large number.
