My reason for asking this is very simple. The conditions in the country, following the peace, make it even more necessary that these governmental restrictions shall be continued than the conditions which prevailed during the war itself.
The general purpose Of the act, when passed as a war-time measure, was to increase production and distribution for the strengthening Of the Government's arm in the war, under such restrictions as would make the increase, without serious consequences to the people them selves. In other words, the general purpose of it was to maintain production and, at the same time, protect the people against the re sult of war-time conditions, which might result in very high prices.
