Publisher's Synopsis

The physical-chemical fundamentals of the construction of two types of generators are considered: magnetohydrodynamic explosive-driven mobile plasma armature and explosive-driven magnetic generator (EMG) with metal armature. Experimental research into the explosive plasma currents, subjected to the effect of Rayleigh-Taylor instability, is described in detail. The processes of transformation of the energy of detonation products into pulses of electrical energy and the efficiency of such processes are considered. The description of design of small-size EMG for supplying high-resistance loads (for example, relativistic electron beams) is given. Special attention is paid to the problem of the coordination of the EMG and power peakers based on the principle of electric explosion of conductors with loads.
