Note: In these Explanatory Notes an acute accent denotes the syllable on which the stress falls. It is marked in the infinitive of all verbs and in other words where the stress does. Not fall on the last syllable but one (penultimate), as is the general rule Note that the only accent used in written Italian is the grave.
