Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Experiments With Vacuum Tubes
Before leaving Cambridge, I had the good fortune to meet the late Mr. Spottiswoode, who charmed me by his beautiful experiments with vacuum tubes. Prior to that time I took a great interest in the subject, partly from the beauty of the phenomena, and partly because they seemed to baf?e all efforts to unravel them.
From that day to this the subject has engrossed my attention, for I believed that a great deal could be done with these tubes, if only the right methods were devised.
