Publisher's Synopsis

The United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, convened in Stockholm in June 1972, brought together environmental decision-makers from throughout the world to discuss various environmental issues facing the whole of humankind. A further conference, sponsored by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), was held in Nairobi 10 years later to document environmental changes which had taken place during the intervening decade.;This volume contains the edited versions of all statements made at both the Stockholm and Nairobi conferences, together with extracts from resolutions on common environmental perceptions made at the UNEP Governing Council meeting of 1987. Collectively, this material shows how international environmental perceptions have changed over the period 1972-1987.
