Publisher's Synopsis
Evolution of a G Synopsis Izzy grew up in the Mid 70s and late 80s, Between Harlem and the Bronx, New York City. During this era was the last of a dying breed of hustlers-last of the Mohegan's-the true underworld gangsters. There are many hoods all over in American cities across the United States, but it is no ancient Chinese secret that: long before the crack epidemic, the heroin trade in the Bronx and Harlem was on another level and that this level could never be reached again. The code of the streets alone was a code that, never failed to be life dependent. Not too many passes were granted, and oftimes one violation of the golden rules-street codes was a guaranteed death wish. Money was being made in the streets at a phenomenal rate. The crews were tightly organized and they worked hard at counter-surveillance. Beefs were rare because it usually started a war-war costs money, and casualties draw heat. Most leaders were very reluctant to beef because it was an inevitable disaster. There was no such thing as coming off the porch as an independent or self-proclaimed boss, everyone moved through the ranks and stripes were not easily earned. The streets were like gladiator school, and a lifetime experience. Participants were duly tested and loyalty was mandatory. Izzy, bothered by spiritual issues makes him different from his counterparts and very tantalizing figure, as he seems to scale heights and plumb the depths oftimes in one day. He could express righteous indignations and rampant licentiousness with equal conviction. This story has all the ingredients of a great mystery-drugs, sex, religion, violence and of course, betrayal, it seems to encapsulate the turmoil that accompanies inner city life all across American soil.
