Many comical mishaps happen to Charlie, but she does not let these minor setbacks deter her from accomplishing her goal. Robert's best friend, Fredrick, who heads the DEA, is looking for a female agent that can handle a very complex case involving the mafia and drugs. Charlie proves herself to both Robert and Fredrick when she successfully makes contact with one of the mob's top bosses, Antonio Bellesto. Intrigue and suspense build as Charlie moves dangerously close to the inner circle, obtaining the information she needs for Fredrick and the DEA. The main target, Antonio Bellesto, is also connected with the inner workings of the Vatican. Charlie's ex-husband Darrell becomes Antonio's right hand man, with his main target his ex-wife. Neither Charlie nor Robert is prepared for the twists and turns this investigation will lead them. At the same time, a leak is detected within the infrastructure of the DEA, compromising their mission. Charlie, Robert, and Fredrick are now working against the clock to find out who and where the leak is. Unlikely alliances are formed when it is uncovered that a terrorist group is entwined within the inner walls of the Vatican, with its intricate plot slowly reaching fruition. The Vatican is in turmoil and faces its mightiest challenge ever, the collapse of the most powerful state and religion in the world.
