IT is the Bufinefs of the Mailer to' make all Things as eafy as pollible, and Mt to frighten Youth from Books and study. By putting unneceffary Difficulties upon them. The not attending duly to this grand Principle of Educa tion, but rather affecting a quite contrary Conduct, and forcing them, by Terrorof the Lalh, to hammer out their bufinefs' in a poor bungling Manner by themfelves, has been the O�calion that many, who have run through our Schools, and whole Bufinefs in the World requires they lhould bescholars, have but a very forry Pittance of Learning to fupport that Character. Lt is my Intention here, and in my other Performances of this Kind, to remedy, as much as lies in me, this crying, this intolera blc Grievance and if I can be to happy in the Exe cution of this my Delign, as to give Satisfaftion to the Learned and J udicious, I have my End, the very utm'ott of my Ambition, and I lhall think myfelf amply rewarded tn their Favour and Approbation for all my Pains.
