As Europe's defence industry starts to consolidate, distinguished industrialists, officials, academics and commentators debate its future. Some of the contributors to this pamphlet argue that companies should come together in a European Aerospace and Defence Company, before forging links with American firms. Others make the case for European defence firms to seek American partners, so that rival transatlantic alliances can maintain competition. However, most of the authors beleive that in a globalising market, the defence companies of the future will have to starddle both sides of the Atlantic.
