Publisher's Synopsis
This work provides a perspective on the importance of the ethical and legal dimensions of nursing in South Africa. Common ethical theories, principles and decision-making models are outlined, and human rights and health care within the South African context is discussed. Attention is given to the ethical issues in nursing practice as it relates to specific life spans (for example, infants, adolescence, adulthood and old age). Perspectives on moral dilemmas include a discussion on the rights of patients. Transcultural issues in nursing practice highlight cultural differences and religions as cultural forces in transcultural nursing.
