Publisher's Synopsis

Nigeria is the most populated country in Africa and one of the biggest developing economies in the world. She prides herself as the giant of Africa, but her shaky political history, together with all man-made and institutionalised structures that bastardize her policies and ideologies, make her a crippled giant. Neglect and Abuse as built-in structures in her polity are made manifest in disregard of common good, violation of human rights, ecological genocide, economic and political lies, as well as the wastage of human life at the slightest provocation, even when the agitations are legitimate. The examination of these situations has been the preoccupation of this research work and the Niger Delta area of the south-eastern part of the polity, served as the focal point. The Author called the neglects and abuses by their names and made a critical evaluation of the negative consequences they have built in the political, socioeconomic and ecological settings. He used practical, ethical and theological tools in the analysis of the situation as well as recommending practical inroads for a sustainable reconstruction.
