Publisher's Synopsis
Essentials of Biotechnology for Students have been written keeping in view the need of undergraduate students of biotechnology and biomedical sciences and college and university teachers, post-graduate and research students of biology and medicine who want to update their knowledge in this fascinating area of modern biology and biochemistry. Part II is devoted to basic immunology such as components of innate immunity, adaptive immunity (antibody and antibody engineering, antigen-antibody interactions, B-cell biology, T-cell biology, ytokines chemokines and their receptors) to applied immunology (autoimmunity, tumour and transplantation immunity, infection immunity and strategies for vaccine development). Part III contains topics on basic molecular biology and recombinant DNA technology and Part IV contains chapters on applied biotechnology such as applications of biotechnology in biology, medicine and environment; bioinformatics, intellectual property rights and issues related to a good laboratory practices. Each chapter is written by experts of the respective fields. Unnecessary details are avoided.
