IN my declining days, when Whether for thought or for action my career is at an end, my mind naturally reverts to the past, and in the retro spect quite as naturally lingers on events in which I myself bore a part, of more or less consequence. To these events the following collection of Essays and Addresses refers; and while intrinsically they are doubtless of little interest, they may be not with out attraction to students who find instruction even in the ephemeral effusions of the passing day.
