Publisher's Synopsis
We have covered the foundation training of the horse. Starting with the groundwork, moving into training under saddle, and performance of gymnastics under saddle. Throughout the process we keep in mind that all exercises and actions are preparation for future more complex exercises. We focus on the quality of the movements, we invest slowly, and we pay attention to the mental states of the horse. Always remaining in a state of observation in order to lead our horse efficiently and serve it's every need. We reward the little things often, allow for rest, playfulness, and bonding. We build the horse from the ground up to have a sense of discipline and loyalty. These two qualities enhances the horse's feelings of confidence and capability. In turn, we must posses those traits and qualities ourselves in order to teach and lead the horse effectively. The beginning is never how we picture it because each beginning is also the end of something that was: our old self.
