The current humanities require a new, interdisciplinary epistemological theory. The interdisciplinary should include the intercultural and so promote a more comprehensive perspective. The book discusses some basic problems of different disciplines and various cultural areas, focusing on Western-Chinese theoretical dialogues. The ethical implication of interdisciplinary-intercultural comparative studies is stressed in order to indicate the necessary relevance of the humanities to reality.
