Publisher's Synopsis
Esterases hydrolysing organophosphorus compounds and their function in the hydrolysis of xenobiotics is particularly important to the detoxification of organophosphorus compounds. This study provides a summary of present knowledge on the mechanism of action and physiological role of these compounds.;The volume assesses the considerable progress which has been achieved in the purification and isolation of specific enzymes. Contributors explain how these enzymes can be markers for certain pathological conditions, and discuss their catalytic properties, species differences, toxicological significance and biological functions.
