Publisher's Synopsis
This book shows how computers are effectively used to help solve problems related to the analysis, planning and management of the environment and its resources. It defines environmental decision support systems (EDSS) as requiring multi-disciplinary expertise from "traditional" environmental experts to systems analysts concerned with modelling, systems theory and operational research, and to computer experts for data management, software design and selection of hardware.;Much of the book is devoted to the analysis and design of the various components of EDSS, with emphasis on the content of the model base, for solving certain classes of environmental problems, each with applications described in some detail.
