This series of books for secondary schools adopts a concentric approach to geography and gives regular opportunity for fieldwork. Each book has 36 studies containing practical activities for the pupil and notes for the teacher. Book 2 is a study of neighbourhoods and towns.;The activities involve both data collection and analysis of findings. Pupils are introduced to a wide range of display techniques including diagrams, graphs, symbols, codes, maps and annotated drawings. Discussion and the use of geographical vocabulary is a vital part of the work and specialist terms are introduced where appropriate. A range of issues, questions and problems are also raised to give pupils experience in constructing and testing their own hypothese and to allow consideration of attitudes and values.;The teacher's notes contain suggestions for further enquiries and homework.
