Publisher's Synopsis
enlarged adenoids are commonly talked about but not always understood. The general public is usually familiar with the term but may not be sure what it is or entails. Adenoids are small, air-filled sacs just behind the nose and above the upper lip. They can become enlarged or protuberant in several ways. The most common cause is inflammation, which can occur due to several factors, including environmental exposure, respiratory infection, or even Cancer. Other causes include blockage of the air passage by particles or other materials and or abscesses (abscesses that spread and develop into other types of Cancer). Whatever the cause, if the adenoid enlarges, it can cause problems for the individual. Breathing can become difficult, leading to respiratory problems, including death. In some cases, the adenoid may need to be surgically removed. The goal is to get the individual back to as normal a life as possible, as quickly as possible.
Adenoids are a type of noncancerous growth on the inside of your nose. There are two types of adenoids: large adenoids and small adenoids. Large adenoids are more common, and they can enlarge. This can block your nose, make breathing difficult, and cause other problems. Small adenoids rarely cause problems, but they can enlarge if they are not treated. Adenoids can be removed by surgery.
