Publisher's Synopsis
Engineering Graphics and CAD teaches students the basic tools and skills in communicating creative product design ideas and developing them into detailed designs for manufacturing. Initial conceptual designs are developed and communicated using basic freehand sketch skills when quick idea development is essential. Students will understand various 2D-3D mappings by freehand sketching before utilizing automatic computing tools.
After mastering the basic skills and backgrounds by hand, students will use a 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) system to complete the detailed designs of the components and assemblies with accurate geometries and dimensions. Complying with ANSI standards, engineering drawings are created as a means of documentation and communication with downstream applications and manufacturing.
