Aimed at first-year undergraduates, this collection of essays explores possibilities in writing, and the choices open to students as writers. Examples of good essay writing are provided from both students and professionals. Instruction is provided by showing alternate student drafts, one in response to class activities and one in response to the professional essays in the book. Questions and writing assignments accompany each chapter, grouped under three headings: "Thinking", "Connecting", and "Writing".
