Publisher's Synopsis
An excerpt from the PREFACE:
This book is the result of an attempt to answer a number of questions which frequently confront engineers. So far as the author is aware no other book in English covers the same ground in an elementary manner.
It is thought that the method of determining the constants in formulas by the use of the straight line alone leaves little to be desired from the point of view of simplicity. The approximation by this method is close enough for most problems arising in engineering work. Even when the Method of Least Squares must be employed the process gives a convenient way of obtaining approximate values.
