Publisher's Synopsis
Authored by leading experts in environmental and occupational studies, this publication stems from a colloquium held in 1994, designed to stimulate thought about the way we live now and how we should try and construct for the future. It is published as a special issue of "Indoor Environment", a journal which addresses all matters to do with the construction of, use, health and comfort aspects of the built indoor environment. The publication consists of two groups of papers. One set features essays which discuss in general and often philosophical terms the politics of research and the future of health and environmental studies. The other articles address specific subjects which are of occupational or environmental concern today, such as emissions from motor vehicles, the mineral fiber industry and the plastics industry.;This issue will be of interest not only to those who are concerned with environmental matters but to policy makers and regulators.
