This training and reference manual has been designed for emergency services personnel in order to achieve the competence level required by OSHA for a hazardous Material Technician (HMT) rating. All areas of how to respond to emergencies involving releases or potential releases of hazardous substances are addressed. The manual grew out of training programmes in occupational health and safety that have been offered by the US Center for Labor Education and Research since 1972. It serves the needs of public emergency response personnel such as firefighters, as well as emergency responders in the private sector.
