Publisher's Synopsis
Emergency psychiatry has established itself as an important part of mental health care, with a well organized network of services.;More than 350 delegates from 35 countries attended the Second International Congress on Emergency Psychiatry in Amsterdam, with a large portion of the delegates representing the Soviet Union, Eastern Europe and the African continent.;About 110 speakers presented a wide variety of subjects, ranging from medical to psychological aspects, from interventions to organizational dilemmas, and from hypothetical new concepts to well documented reports on research projects. A selection of the papers presented are covered in this proceedings, as it was impossible to include all papers because of the sheer volume. Some papers were chosen on the basis of their actuality, others to give a good overview of the diversity of subjects covered at the congress, and still others because they deal with new/interesting points of view on special topics.
