Publisher's Synopsis
These dictionaries cover contemporary ``construction'' in the building industries, which includes major projects such as office buildings or new cities, with terms used in design, contracts, administration and sitework. The terms and equivalents given form a comprehensive description of building construction language. All stages in administration and production are represented, from the initial brief, through preparation of the architectural and engineering design, drawings and specifications, then contract negotiations and production, up to completion and final handing over. A check was done on all BSI preferred terms. Equivalents are reliable, having been researched against a thorough knowledge of the industry, then used in practice for translation over a long period. A few new terms are proposed in concrete technology, where the French are still the forerunners.
