Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Elementary Course in Quantitative Chemical Analysis: With Special Reference
The reagents are always added in the form of dilute solutions of definite and known strength. These solutions, which are termed standard solutions or volumetric solutions, may be classified as follows: class A - Solutions suitable for the determination of one particular substance only. These solutions are made of a strength irrespective of the molecular weight of the active constituent, one cc. Indicating a certain Weight (usually 10 mg.) of the sub stance undergoing determination. As an example of solutions of this kind may be mentioned the potassium permanganate solution as used in iron determinations by technical chemists.
