The Quichua has two important proper ties, which give it a wonderfully easy and flexible manner of expression. The first is its method of agglutination; 1. E., that as it lacks the inflections to which we are ac customed in the Semitic and Aryan langua ges, these are replaced by purely mechanical affixes or independent particles which are added to the root, or aggregation of roots. The second comes from the conjugation of the verbs, which besides the usual accidence, can modify their meaning by the insertion of particles, and express the different relations of the persons one with another by means of affixes, which give rise to numerous verbal transitions.
