Look-alike Spanish/English cognates are exceptionally useful to teachers and students of Spanish and English for three reasons: (1) their similar spellings and pronunciations provide an easily accessible vocabulary in the new language; (2) the contrast between them facilitates an understanding of the phonetics of the language to be acquired; and (3) the number of lexical similarities between the languages provides beginning students of either with an encouraging appreciation of the affinity between them. THE DICTIONARY OF SPANISH/ENGLISH LOOK-ALIKE COGNATES; ARRANGED GRAMMATICALLY AND PHONETICALLY is an attempt to provide students of both languages with an extensive, organized collection of look-alike cognates. Los cognados analogos espanoles-ingleses son excepcionalmente utiles para profesores y estudiantes del espanol y del ingles por lo siguiente: (1) sus parecidos ortograficos y sus pronunciaciones similares proporcionan un vocabulario facil de adquirir. (2) su contraste facilita el entendimiento de la fonetica entre los idiomas. (3) las abundantes semejanzas lexicas proporcionan a los estudiantes principiantes de ambos idiomas un alentador aprecio de la afinidad que existe entre ellos. es una tentativa de darles a estudiantes de ambos idiomas una extensa y organizada coleccion de cognados analogos.
