Publisher's Synopsis
The aim of this book is to equip both experienced teachers and students in training to make their mathematics classes stimulating and enjoyable. It offers suggestions for effective learning aids which can be made with low-cost materials and advocates, wherever possible, a practical activity-based methodology. The authors are familiar with the overcrowded and under-resourced conditions in which many teachers and children have to work, but believe that their suggestions can be adopted in spite of those constraints. Their experience in working with primary teachers, advisers and inspectors in Africa has shown that the approach has received a ready, enthusiastic response.
