Publisher's Synopsis

Many doctors enter their trainee year with little knowledge of ENT problems because there is often very little teaching of it to medical students. A wider understanding of the history, examination and management of ENT problems will stop so many GPs referring their patients to hospital out-patient departments far sooner than they would prefer. The topics cover the commonly presenting problems and their management in general practice. This is not a comprehenisve account, but a useful addition to an individual practitioner's reference book collection. Chapters are arranged in such a way as to highlight areas quickly where either referral should be automatic, or management within the practice is appropriate and cost-effective, or useful management plans can be made for the middle ground between treatment and referral.
