Publisher's Synopsis
The primary goal of the third specialty conference on the dynamics of structures was to provide a forum for dialogue between engineers conducting experimental tests and those developing analytical models. Engineers specializing in the areas of earthquakes, wind, system identification, full-scale structural response, and structural control are represented in these proceedings. The coordinated program of United States and Japan earthquake research is reviewed. Laboratory test studies and wind tunnel studies are presented. Other topics include base isolation, strengthening of existing buildings, soil-structure interaction, and deterministic and probabilistic structural dynamics. Various kinds of structures- bridges, buildings, foundations, pipelines, and dams, for example are covered.
