Publisher's Synopsis
This volume describes the evaluation of stability or instability of myelin by analyzing the dynamic interactions of the protein and lipid components of the myelin membrane. It explores such questions as: how this interaction may lead to myelin stability and normal myelin function; how it may lead to instability and abnormal function; and how the metabolic processes, genetic imprints and post-translational modifactions may lead to stability or instability of the myelin membrane during development. The volume also examines which immunological responses may be generated and what kind of restrictions may be imposed upon such responses when instability is the outcome.
