He did not understand why he was kept in a cell away from the other prisoners. None of the slaves were treated well by Hilekar's guards, but Kaysar's treatment was even that much more severe. It seemed as though there was a deeper meaning as to why he was being treated differently from the others. Yet Kaysar also felt that someday he would see the light of day once again and that he would experience the sense of safety and warmth that he faintly recalled as a young child. Were those happy memories of the past truly real? The longer Kaysar remained a prisoner within the Abyss, the more distant and unreal those memories seemed to him.
