But in conformity with the requefi of form refpeétable and learned Friends, this Specimen is, publiihed, as a pre paratory and perhaps neceifary Introdué'tion to an intended general Tran?ation. To give a literal verbatim Rendering, was never defigned, (for then no one would have read it but to give a faithful, accurate, though occafionally' liberal Tran?ation, where Cuf'toms and Manners are delineated. To noblemen, gentlemen OF landed property, clergymen, lawyers, and jurymen, this Record will a?brd much pleafing and fatisfaétory Information and the curious Cui'toms enregif'tered in thefe volumes, will much elucidate the com mon law of the land, the manners Of our forefather's, the state of the boroughs, towns, and villages, the agricueture, population.
