Excerpt from Documents Relating to the Colonial, Revolutionary and Post-Revolutionary History of the State of New Jersey, Vol. 35: Calendar of New Jersey Wills, Administrations, Etc., Volume Vi, 1781-1785
This, the sixth volume of Abstracts of Wills of New Jersey, was prepared from the originals on file in the Secretary of State's office at Trenton by the late Dr. Joseph H. Satterthwaite of that city, who is recognized as an authority in this field of work. The wills have been arranged in alphabetical form, edited and indexed by the Editor. In all instances the names of towns and hamlets, local designations, household furnishings, farm implements, etc., are spelled exactly as they appear in the original documents. Variations in spelling of proper names will often be found in the body of the same abstract, but in all cases the name of the testator or testatrix, which appears at the beginning of each abstract, conforms to the spelling of his or her signature.
