Written by Bob Geldeof and Midge Ure in 1984 to raise money for relief of famine in Ethiopia, this charity single went straight to number one in the UK singles chart, outselling all other singles in the chart put together. It went on to raise millions of pounds for the charity and featured guest appearances from an unprecedented host of artists from the era, including U2, Paul Weller, Sting, David Bowie, Bananarama, Duran Duran and Kool & The Gang, amongst others.
