The number of Guinea Pigs (Cavies) being kept, both on the large scale by breeders, and on the small scale by the pet owner has significantly increased over recent years. At present there is, however, no single source of information on this species for the veterinary practitioner. This new edition to the LVP Series is written in accessible note form and considers the clinical signs of disease, disease treatment and prevention. Successive chapters discuss the reproductive, digestive, respiratory, musculoskeletal and urinary systems, the skin, head and neck, nervous system, and husbandry. A single chapter devoted to treatment lists all the treatments discussed in earlier chapters for easy reference, each cross referenced to its original entry, and describing dose rates, method of administration, and contraindications. An appendix provides important information on physiological data.
